Crime Beat Reporter Mitch Malone Checks In
W.S. Gager has lived in West Michigan for most of her life except for
stints early in her career as a newspaper reporter and editor. Now she enjoys creating villains instead of crossing police lines to get the story. She teaches English at a local college and is a soccer chauffeur for her children. During her driving time she spins webs of intrigue for Mitch Malone’s next crime-solving adventure.
Hey folks. My name is Mitch Malone and I’m filling in on this blog for W.S. Gager. She’s got her hands full right now trying to get the final edits done on the second book in the Mitch Malone Mystery Series. In case you couldn’t tell, the book is about me but I’m not going to let that go to my head. I told her I was a crime beat reporter; I could certainly snap something out for a blog. Who knows with the newspaper industry struggling from dwindling advertising revenues, I may have to turn to the internet to make my living.
You will have to check out the book W.S. is struggling with. It is slated for a June release from Oak Tree Press and has a working title of A Case of the Accidental Intersection. She doesn’t like editing and I can’t say as I blame her. I have a horrible newspaper editor in the book. What happens is  I come across an accident scene that is pretty bad. Cement mixer squishes red muscle car. The thing is that things don’t add up for me and the heiress who is killed haunts me, figuratively anyway. I don’t do ghosts. Don’t know what it is about women, but I can’t get some of them to leave me alone which brings me to Elsie Dobson. She is a wily old lady who witnesses the accident. Problem is she won’t leave me alone either. What’s a guy to do? Add to that my editor thinks he’s my best friend, changes my work schedule and I just can’t find any peace.  It only gets worse when I threaten him and the next morning he shows up dead where I last saw him. How unlucky can one guy be?
Lucky for me, W.S. had a few surprises up her sleeve and I am able to skate through some pretty sticky situations until a murderer realizes I am on to him and then… Well, you will have to read to find out. I don’t want to ruin the story before you buy the newspaper, er, book. I do have a job to protect.
Oh, and don’t forget to check out my first mystery, A Case of Infatuation. Now available at Creatures ‘n Crooks Books & Sundries and other independent bookstores, it’s also available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and even the kindle for electronic buffs. Special thanks to Lelia Taylor for letting me guest blog. Now don’t forget to check out the case that had me breaking all three of my hard and fast rules—working alone, no kids and not letting the story bother me. Seems book two has some rule breaking too.
Gotta run, the next big story is just a headline away. Mitch Malone is on the beat.

Oh Mitch, will you never learn? Much of what you perceive is simply in your own head. It’s not that women can’t leave you alone, you are simply a sucker for a pretty face and a bit of attention. NOT that there’s anything wrong with that! The right lady will come along and you will melt yet again. In the meantime, we will all root for you. See you in the next book.
I agree with the no kids rule, Mitch! Kids and murder just do not mix!
I can’t wait to read the new Mitch Mallone. And I must disagree with Sunny- I would be all over Mitch if he ever came to New Orleans (providing he could get past my six foot, three hundred pound husband.) Speed up the editing, Wendy, you have fans waiting!

Thanks or stopping by. The next Mitch Malone novel is off! Thanks so much for keeping Mitch entertained and out of trouble!
