Attorney Kevin Corvelli totally botched his last case in New York.  It was a murder case, and he was more interested in the media attention than in doing the work he needed to do to win the case.  He lost the case.  His client Brandon Glenn was raped and murdered in prison; his client really was innocent.  Kevin got all the media attention he wanted, but not the kind he wanted.  So he packed and moved far, faraway.

Now Kevin is in Hawaii, determined to avoid media attention and felony cases.  That doesn’t work.  His first, or perhaps second, case is a murder case, bound to attract media attention.  His client is accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend all the way to Hawaii and then brutally killing her because she’s unfaithful to him.

While he’s working this case, and working it the way he should have handled Brandon’s case, he acquires a girlfriend.  She’s a local, and makes Kevin a very happy man most of the time.  She has some baggage, but nothing he thinks he can’t handle.  Silly man.

Paradise is a very good first novel.  There are some flaws, but nothing that seriously detracts from the story.  Corleone is walking in some pretty big footsteps (Koryta leaps to mind) but he certainly has the potential to keep up.  One Man’s Paradise is another man’s good read.

I usually prefer reading books with less brutality but the plot sounds interesting enough so I will be looking for this to give a new author a try.

This is the kind of book I really enjoy. I also like to give new authors a chance.

I recently began reading , One Man’s Paradise~! Corleone’s unique ability to combine realism and intrigue into a plot that thickens with each chapter read sets him apart from most mystery writers~! A must read~!
