Plot Synopsis
Judge Sn does not discriminate. He is equally unpleasant to all sentient beings that make up the universe in this follow up to The Android’s Dream.
Judge Sn is obsessed with the game of golf. He is also truly, monumentally, and historically bad at golf.
Judge Sn has made a judicial decision that is very controversial. This leads to numerous assassination attempts during what is turning out to be one of the best games of golf that he has ever played. And Judge Sn is not about to let a little thing like an assassination attempt or two or three stop him from finishing this game.
Review
1. This short story uses characters and details from Scalzi’s book The Android’s Dream. But it is possible to read this chapbook as a stand alone book. You just need to be aware of the fact that this universe contains a large multitude of different species, many which reside on Earth for a number of reasons.
2. The reader spends a good portion of the book waiting for the action to begin. The short story reminds me of some of the farces I’ve seen. The first portion of the story is used to set up the scenario and the last part of the play is the pay off, or wackiness run amuck. Judge Sn is also truly, entertainingly snarky.
Conclusion
31 pages. $12 – 18.00 depending on where you get it. This short story is for those who love Scalzi’s work.
